dig your own hole

the garden and pool, summer of ‘22

such a perfectly relaxing, beautiful garden. why would anyone in their right mind want to destroy it? especially as in recent years, our neighborhood has only too often seen green spaces transformed into hulking apartment buildings.
but wait, there’s method to our madness! the plan is to dig a big hole, make an entirely subterranean structure, and in the end restore the garden to its full glory.
despite this knowledge, it's hard to countenance everything being torn up. it also means at least a year without a pool, which is hard to let go of once you're used to enjoying it, especially on hot days.
